Facilitator note (session-ready)

Goal

Each girl writes or traces her name and says or writes one true sentence about herself.

Timing — 45 min default

0:00–0:05 Welcome circle — names aloud
0:05–0:15 Warm-up: “I am / I like” oral practice
0:15–0:30 Write my name (model → guided → independent)
0:30–0:40 My sentence (scaffold → write/draw)
0:40–0:45 Share circle + close

30-min cut: skip extended warm-up share; shorten write-name to 8 min; one volunteer share.

60-min stretch: peer interview + decorate name cards for a wall display.

How to run (summary)

Welcome: Name + feeling word with a soft ball; kind pace.
Warm-up: Stems “I am ___ / I like ___”; choral → pair-share → 3 volunteers.
Write my name: Model → trace → copy → memory. Every girl leaves with a name card she helped make.
My sentence: “My name is ____. I ____.” Accept invented spelling.
Share + close: Three volunteers; “We hear you.”

Inclusion

Never force aloud share — paper-show is fine.
Honour nicknames; disability accommodations (scribe, tiles, oral) count as success.
Home language first for oral warm-up if needed, then bridge to English stems.
